We’re doing Holiday48 again. Here’s what we need to do.

1. Give us some money for the server.
Server for a month costs $20. Any overflow goes to giveaways? and/or the #CL STICKER MACHINE pot. Everyone who signed up for stickers or secret tramp-o-whatever or gives me their address gets free stickers.

2. Make a website.
Okay, so this is what I’ve got for the website so far. Super bare-bones. The left panel is auto-refreshing and has the flash player, the right panel is navigable by clicking the small red linky things. CAN YOU MAKE THIS PRETTIER? Take the PSD file (the font is included) and beautify that ho up. Send me (j2) anything you make (or just put it in the comments or something). I can do all of the coding, I just need designers. Ducks and bugs need not apply.

3. Get music.
Same deal as every year. If there’s great stuff you want to hear on holiday48, link to it in the comments. If you HAVE great stuff on your computer and need to file-share it at me, sit tight – I will have a public FTP available shortly.

4. Broadcast.
This is where things get wild. You guys need to start hosting the show too, because it’s two straight days of programming and it needs to be good. Comment with your tentative availability and you will be guaranteed a timeslot. We will have the server set up at least a week before showtime and we will make sure each of you knows how to run the show. And I will make a torrent of the entire holiday48 library so we all have access to the music.

5. Make things.
Chet Farnsworth and I are working on his second ever Christmas album, or Christmas EP or something. It will be played on Holiday48, along with probably some live recordings we’ll throw together at the last minute. You guys should make stupid/awesome holiday stuff too. Give me anything you do and it will be used.

YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I MEAN. That’s right! It’s about time for some Holiday48*!   THERE’S GONNA BE SOME VERY AMBIGUOUS KRINGLES.  What would you do if Mr. Pringle was your Secret Santa?

So guys! Let’s all get excited! That’s apparently what this whole annual me-making-a-journal-about-Secret-Santa thing has been about the whole time!  Who knew‽  By this time you all know what Secret Santa is and how we roll. If you want to participate this year, let’s start off by having you post a reply to this post, so we can get a rough head count. Later we will have an official-looking form for you to fill out that includes you telling robot-joey your address and some basic interests and things you might want. If you’ve participated in the past, feel free to do so again! There is no limit to the number of times you can do this! (duh, shad)

There has been some debate as to the price that gifts should be, but I’m just going to go ahead and go with what we’ve decided in the past 3(?) years. $20 This is what we have decided is a fair price. You can get one $20 thing or a multitude of things that all add up to $20 or whatever you want! You can include shipping in the $20 limit or spend a few extra bucks, it’s up to you, just try to keep things at about $20 and we’re all set! There aren’t many rules about that, as long as you don’t rip off whoever you get. Which leads me to my next point.

This year, my goal will be to make sure that everyone gets a gift. Not that that wasn’t a goal in the past, but we’ve made some exceptions that in retrospect were a bad idea. These exceptions will not be made again. In order to participate, everyone else who is participating must know you. We’re a pretty tight-knit family by this point, so this shouldn’t be a problem. If you are regularly in #cl and talk to people, then there is no problem! People know you! Welcome, friend!  Unfortunately, if you don’t do this, then there is a chance that someone won’t know you and you won’t receive a gift because they don’t know what to get you, or you won’t know the person you get and won’t get them something for the same reason.  All three years there has been someone we’ve allowed to participate that did not follow through, so we’re just gonna go ahead and not let them participate this year, as well as anyone we might think will do the same thing.

So now I think traditionally the next step is everyone bug j2 to make the sign up form so we can start getting assigned Santas.  (This step might take a while, as it always does, so we might as well get started early.)

We killed Mr. Pringle. It was fun, though, and he deserved it. Plus, now he has a sweeter Greenlandic home, http://prn.gl.

Now Chris is doing his own Twitter joke festival, the more freestyle @bassoonjokes. Chet’s a media mogul by trade, so watch yourself.

In other news, I think we need to make this website more than just stuff we make. I’ll draw up some plans and post some ideas.

I’ve showed this to some of you guys, but I guess this is what this place is for. Shad edited the video for me so props to him.

Okay, this hasn’t been officialized/run by j2 yet, but I think it would be a great idea if we had a few specialized shirts to show our love/love for #cl. How could you not think about wearing: an ionic column shirt, a holiday48 shirt, and of course a #caffeinelounge basic shirt – COMPLETE WITH COOL MUG AND SLOGAN?

You know you would love to wear one, (or at least remember a time where you would) so let’s cafepress this and wear some shirts.

A friend of mine is in a creative writing class and this is something that some “weiner” wrote.

His new purpose

I can protect all of them he thought as he looked down from the roof top of the apartments where people were just going about their normal day.  This was his purpose now the one he had chosen the day he met his mentor the one who was able to grant him this gift of power.  Long ago he would have never believed something as demons, vampires, werewolves and other supernatural things existed but that was hundreds of years ago.  For now thanks to his sire he was a werewolf well one of the few werewolves who remember what their true purpose is and that is to protect these humans who had no idea what was out there.  Werewolves now were just like the creatures that he was to protect humans from; monsters that only see weak humans as prey or the strong ones with the potential be powerful werewolves should they be turned but Chow wasn’t like that for he had never tasted the blood of a human like others had once one do they are just about addicted to it.  Just like humans have their drugs creatures like him have human blood as theirs.  As Chow watched with his brown eyes which had a golden ring around them which show that he had become one with his wolf like most other werewolves had, be them good or bad he couldn’t help think about losing the one thing he could never forget, when his family was killed.  This was the one thing he couldn’t forgive himself for he promised to protect them with his life but wasn’t strong enough to do it, but that day is also day his mentor gave him his gift and a new purpose.  Though most become werewolves become how they are by being bitten those who don’t just exchange blood with a deep cut before the werewolf can heal, which is what Chow’s mentor did for him.

The old him had died that day along with his family after hundreds of years he was able to protect and save people from the monsters prey on humans bet it supernatural or just another human attacking another.  He was broke out of though because his werewolf hearing heard the yell of someone in trouble as he honed in on the sound which looked like it was coming from a broke down warehouse he removed all of his clothing save for the pair of gym shorts that were elastic so they wouldn’t ripe when he transformed as he was doing now.  The transformation its self is something to behold like most werewolves he never grew tired of transforming and the power that came with it.  With powerful leg muscles he leaped from rooftop to rooftop  with amazing speed towards the warehouse ready to protect anybody in need he wouldn’t fail these people like he did his family; this is the new purpose.

Several of us #clers are planning to marathon fps classic L4D2! We’re still hashing out the details, but it’s good to start recruiting interested people now for an audience.

We’ll be donating to Red Cross. A tentative schedule is late May (25/26) and right now will be for at least 24 hours!
